Should standing for the National Anthem be mandated in sports?
Can a sports league mandate patriotism? That’s what U.S. Soccer is hoping for when they released a new rule requiring all players to stand respectfully during the National Anthem.
While I’m personally not a fan of mandating patriotism or bringing politics to work, it’s an interesting debate to be had when half of our major sports league play the National Anthem with players in attendance. While the other half of leagues play it before their players ever step foot onto the field of play.
The ladies of ‘Helmets and Heels‘ debate if more leagues should adopt this rule or if this should be mandated to begin with.
