If you’re like me, you like beer at most social events. No, scratch that, if you’re like me you love beer at any social event. It makes the routine interesting and the seemingly boring, well, interesting.

If you’re also like me, you’ve wanted to sneak beer into socially unacceptable gatherings and events because sometimes life needs a little spice.

Maybe you have a baby shower coming up.

Or a company outing.

Or perhaps you have the dreaded dry-wedding of your second cousin that your parents are making you attend.

Heck, an event doesn’t even need to be socially unacceptable for me to want to sneak beer into it. I’ve been to enough baseball and football games to know it’s absolutely absurd to pay double-digit prices for a beer. And not even a good beer. I’ve seen $12 Bud Light and while I’m not someone to turn up their nose at beer no matter how watered down, handing over the equivalent of two Chick-fil-a meals for a 12-ounce Bud Light is not what I want to be doing on a Sunday afternoon.

So, whether you’re at an event where drinking is frowned upon, or you don’t want to shell out $72 for a six-pack of Budweiser, you can feel my pain.

But with this clever and cheap life hack, you can make those social events a little more tolerable.

I don’t know where I saw this trick, but it looks simple enough. All you have to do is cut a Coke can (or any soda, really) down the side. Don’t slice it all the way, or the can will easily split, but just enough to slip your favorite brew in there.

And try not to make it too good of a soda. A Coke or a Pepsi works great. Pull out a grape soda or Mug root beer and you’ll have friends lined up around the block for a sip.
