What To Watch For

A Cy Young runner-up, Wainwright is one of the best pitchers in the league. This will be his third Opening Day start and his second since bouncing back from Tommy John surgery. Wainwright’s a beast: a career-high in innings (241 2/3), strikeouts (219), complete games (five), and shutouts (two) in a 19-win season last year, according to MLB.com. And expect Cards veteran Yadier Molina to be ready to go.

Starting Pitchers: Adam Wainwright (STL), Johnny Cueto (CIN)

Opening Day Lineup (Projected)
1 – Matt Carpenter – 3B
2 – Kolten Wong – 2B
3 – Matt Holliday – LF
4 – Allen Craig – RF
5 – Matt Adams – 1B
6 – Yadier Molina – C
7 – Jhonny Peralta – SS
8 – Peter Bourios – CF
9 – Adam Wainwright – RHP

The Competition

A playoff team from last year’s best division themselves, the Cincinnati Reds will come out strong.

After missing part of the season last year, pitcher Johnny Cueto is back at full strength.

The Reds also have Jay Bruce, one of the best hitters in the NL.

What To Wear

Weather: Hi 68° / Lo 50° (via Accuweather)

Date/Time: Monday, March 31 at 3:10pm CST

Given the nearly perfect weather forecast (something the Cards aren’t used to on opening day), go with a light-weight, long-sleeved team shirt and jeans.

And since it’s opening day, you gotta sport a new ball cap. Bring a matching sweatshirt to layer on for your post-game opening day celebration.

Get ready for some mid-day fireworks!
