As leader of the Golden State Warriors and one of the best NBA players in the game, all eyes are on Stephen Curry. But 11-year-old Jaden Newman became a basketball prodigy when she beat Steph Curry in a 3-point contest during a Foot Locker commercial.
Amazing, right?!
Newman is in the 6th grade and has been playing on her high school’s varsity team for the past three years accumulating more than 1,000 career points, averages 30.5 points per game and once scored 57 points in a single game.
Though she’s young, Newman has one goal she desperately wants to achieve: She wants to become the first female to play in the NBA. With the stats that she’s been putting up lately, her goal doesn’t seem that far away especially since she’s had more than few career years and did I mention she’s only 11?
Her stats this year have been some of the best of her young career. Through only 12 games, she’s averaged 43.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 6.8 steals per game with 518 points this year. Since she is one of the best in her league, it’s hard not to compare her to the best right now, Mr. Curry.
While Curry is almost 3 times her age, he has some pretty similar stats. In 43 games this season, Curry’s averaged 30.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game. While he has a bit more NBA experience, Newman still has relatively good stats and edges Curry out in a few categories.
