CoverGirl is no stranger to new partnerships for their makeup line. In 2013, they debuted NFL looks for each team and the box office franchise Hunger Games. And this year, they’re going to a galaxy far, far away to launch a new Star Wars makeup line.
While details of the Star Wars makeup line release date are as fuzzy has Chewy’s back hair, it’s estimated some time in the fall prior to The Force Awakens release in December.
The line plays off the light and dark side with color pallets naturally reflecting softer and darker tones. There’s also a retro feel to it all, combining the style of 1970’s fashion that made appearances in the original Star Wars trilogy to the sophisticated, futuristic feel that the new Star Wars films have looked to have — at least from the trailers we’ve seen.
From the packaging, you can also see numbers counting up to 10, which would seem to mean there will be 10 overall looks.
Personally, I love it. Not just because I’m a Star Wars fangirl (because I most certainly am) but because it’s something new. These aren’t just shades and tones that will make you look relatively the same as you did before. This Star Wars makeup line is going to make you look different and stand out.
Whether or not the Star Wars makeup line is how you want to look is one thing. But the fact that the look is uniquely CoverGirl and Star Wars — and not just some rip off or recycled line from 10 years ago — has me excited for how other brands will engage with the new Star Wars films over the next few years.
