For one day out of the year, the good people at the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund allow those of us who work at 1010xl and Helmets and Heels to tell their stories on air. We do this in hopes the community will respond with donations to help further the Jay Fund’s goal of ensuring families affected by childhood cancer in North Florida don’t have to worry about financial and emotional stress this terrible disease has.

We were honored to give a voice to the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund and these children who have to deal with so much at such a young age. And through their voices, the community along with 1010xl-Helmets and Heels listeners responded with donations throughout the day that totaled more than $92,000, smashing the record of $75,000 set in 2014.

While we get into other sports hot topics on this week’s show, being able to mix in positive stories from the community is one of those occasions where you feel truly blessed by the generosity of your community.
