Halo: Spartan Assault, Coming in July to a Windows 8 Device Near You

Microsoft and 343 Industries revealed the latest upcoming title in the Halo franchise, and it’s not Halo 5. In a surprising move, Halo: Spartan Assault will be a top-down shooter available exclusively on Windows 8 devices. It is the first Halo game to be available on touch-screen devices.

Set between Halo 3 and Halo 4, Halo: Spartan Assault allows players to play as either Commander Sarah Palmer–of Halo 4 Spartan Ops fame–or Spartan Davis while investigating the beginnings of the Spartan Ops program. The game boasts 25 single-player missions, and while there is no multiplayer, players can compete with one another on leaderboards and through weekly challenges.

As should be expected, Halo: Spartan Assault will have a number of achievements, but players will also be able to earn XP, achievements, and emblems for Halo 4.

No exact release date has been announced, but Halo: Spartan Assault will be available sometime next month.

He has a passion for history and loves learning about how the past has shaped the present. Other hobbies include movies, softball, trivia, skiing, and exploring this breathtaking state. He will never turn down a game of ping pong.
