What. A. Show!

With the first ever MMA card ever at Madison Square Garden, the UFC needed to make this an epic event. And when you need to make history, who do you call?

You call Conor MFing McGregor.

It was a historic night, so I will focus on the man that made history.

The McGregor Show

I definitely did not see this coming.

So Mr. McGregor has had an eventful year. After KOing Jose Aldo last December, he followed that up with 2 epic battles with The Real Muthaf*cking Ninja, Nate Diaz, and did some epic ninja sh*t and broke PPV records. With the Lightweight title always in his rifle scope, and fighting for the title was always his intention before Rafael dos Anjos’s foot exploded, he set his sights on becoming the first fighter to hold 2 titles at the same time at different weight classes. So with that, he set his sights on Eddie Alvarez, the new lightweight champ.

The homie Brendan Schaub said it best:

I definitely did not see this coming. And there is not much technical analysis that I can give here except Conor just straight pieced him up.

His insanely powerful straight left hand. It was the same punch McGregor used at UFC 194 to unceremoniously end Aldo’s ten-year undefeated reign. The first time he connected with that left hand, I knew the end was near. Eddie’s face told a Shakespearean-like story, “Oh sh*t, what have I gotten myself into???”

So, the Mystic Mac has 2 titles, so what is next for him? Well, he has two likely targets. The first is the UFC itself! More specifically, he wants part ownership!

“People have shares in the company. Celebrities. Conan O’Brien owns the UFC nowadays. Where’s my share? Where’s my equity?” McGregor said. “If I’m the one that’s bringing this—they’ve got to come talk to me now, that’s all I know. I’ve got both belts, a chunk of money, a little family on the way. You want me to stick around? Do you want me to keep doing what I’m doing? Let’s talk, but I want the ownership now. I want the equal share. I want what I deserve. What I’ve earned.”

So, with a victory in hand, McGregor threw down the gauntlet; he knows his worth.

With he and longtime girlfriend due for parenthood in Spring of 2017, all indications are that he will not fight before that time. And while he still has the featherweight title, weight cutting to 145lbs is not something he will want to do again.

Oh…and there is always this guy:
