The gaming industry’s Super Bowl dubbed E3 officially kicked off Monday with press conferences from some of the biggest names in Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft, and PlayStation.
Exclusives to each console are a huge necessity and one of the new exclusives shown off was during Sony PlayStation’s show called Horizon Zero Dawn.
Amersterdam developer Guerrilla Games (known for the Killzone franchise) showed off the game featuring a female protagonist in gameplay footage of what could pass for Tauriel (from the Hobbit movie franchise) meets Gears of War.
From the game’s fact sheet:
“As Horizon Zero Dawn’s main protagonist Aloy, a skilled hunter, explore a vibrant and lush world inhabited by mysterious mechanized creatures. Embark on a compelling, emotional journey and unravel mysteries of tribal societies, ancient artifacts and advanced technologies that will determine the fate of this planet, and of life itself.”

Any female heroine that’s badass enough to take down giant robots while clothed properly in what appears to be a great story, I’m sold.
Horizon: Zero Dawn is scheduled for a 2016 release date.
