Washington Redskins name Kirk Cousins the starter over RG3

When the Washington Redskins drafted Robert Griffin III, they never imagined the mess that he’d become.

It looked like drafting him would be the solution to their long-standing quarterback troubles, but unfortunately he only made it worse. To try to alleviate the situation, the Redskins picked up two more quarterbacks, Kirk Cousins and Colt McCoy, both of which didn’t really fix the problem. At this point, it’s hard to really sympathize for the Redskins, because they’re really not doing themselves any favors.

Redskins head coach Jay Gruden addressed the media on Monday to discuss their starter. It was clear that Griffin was no favorite to get the job, so the competition was between Cousins and McCoy. Gruden ultimately sided with Cousins.

“When it’s all said and done, after all the film we’ve gone through, after all the offseason activity, all the training camp footage, we feel like at this time, Kirk Cousins gives us the best chance to win and that’s where we’re going. It’s Kirk’s team.”

No disrespect to Mr. Gruden or anything, but why would he call the Redskins “Kirk’s team”?

Along with that announcement, Gruden briefly discussed Griffin and reassured everyone that the talks of him being traded or cut from the roster are far from true.

No matter what happens, it looks like the Redskins fans are in for another year of disappointment.
