nfl, nfl power rankings

(Won-Loss Record and Last Week’s Ranking in parentheses)

1.  Houston Texans (9-1) (2) – “Character building” win or “catastrophe avoided?”

2.  Baltimore Ravens (8-2) (2) – Took a giant step forward toward securing the division.

3.  Atlanta Falcons (9-1) (3) – Need to prove elite status by smacking the Bucs around.

4.  San Francisco 49ers (7-2-1) (5) – Statement win with Kaepernick yields a “good” quarterback controversy.

5.  Green Bay Packers (7-3) (5) – “Revenge” matchup with the Giants figures to be the game of the week.

6.  New England Patriots (7-3) (7) – They’ll have Gronk back in time for the playoffs.

7.  Chicago Bears (7-3) (4) – No surprise the offense struggled against the Niners.  But the defense got torched too.  They’re in trouble.

8.  Denver Broncos (7-3) (9) – Remember all those people who didn’t want Peyton Manning because they had Tim Tebow?  What happened to them?

9.  Pittsburgh Steelers (6-4) (8) – Roethlisberger and Leftwich out, even Charlie Batch is banged up.  They’re working out Mike Kafka.  He might have to play.

10.  New York Giants (6-4) (10) – The Giants thrive when their backs are against the wall.  If the Cowboys win on Thursday, I’ll bet they beat Green Bay.

11.  Seattle Seahawks (6-4) (11) – Because of their road woes, this week @Miami could be the biggest game of the year.  Must prove they can win games like this.

12.  Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-4) (14) – Looking more and more like a team that BELIEVES it.

13.  Minnesota Vikings (6-4) (13) – Next three weeks (Chicago twice and Green Bay) will decide their fate.

14.  Indianapolis Colts (6-4) (12) – Don’t pencil them in just yet.

T-15.  Dallas Cowboys (5-5) (15) – Somewhat miraculously, they’re still in it.

T-15.  New Orleans Saints (5-5) (16) – Somewhat more miraculously, they’re still in it.

17.    Cincinnati Bengals (5-5) (21) – They’re out of mulligans.

18.  San Diego Chargers (4-6) (17) – Fading fast.

19.  Arizona Cardinals (4-6) (18) – 4-0 was a LONG time ago.

20.  Miami Dolphins (4-6) (18) – Have lost all the magic.

21.  Detroit Lions (4-6) (20) – Tough schedule taking it’s toll.

22.  Washington Redskins (4-6) (24) – Still too many injuries.

23.  Tennessee Titans (4-6) (23) – They have the schedule, but not the talent, to be a spoiler.

24.  New York Jets (4-6) (25) – A sound and a fury signifying nothing.

25.  Buffalo Bills (4-6) (27) – They bought themselves a one week reprieve.

26.  St. Louis Rams (3-6-1) (22) – Unlike most of the teams this low, their problems are fixable.

27.  Philadelphia Eagles (3-7) (26) – No one is playing worse football than the Eagles right now.

28.  Oakland Raiders (3-7) (28) – This team has actually become quite boring.

29.  Carolina Panthers (2-8) (29) – That third win is on the horizon (vs. Philadelphia)

30.  Cleveland Browns (2-8) (29) – This team has a right to be a little pissed.

31.  Kansas City Chiefs (1-9) (31) – Does it really matter if it’s Quinn or Cassel?

32.  Jacksonville Jaguars (1-9) (32) – The Blaine Gabbert experiment is finally over.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
