I don’t know about you, but once football season is over, I’m counting down the days until the next football season begins.

Being raised in a house dominated by boys has its pros and cons. On one side, you usually end up being a pretty cool chick. On the other hand, you can get pretty intense when football season rolls around.

Which may or may not be a good thing.

I’ve always battled with obtaining a happy medium of being enthusiastic without seeming like a crazy person.

I get excited for a lot of things. An ex referred to me as a “baby deer” seeing the world for the first time. It’s not something I can control, I just find the wonder in most things and when I get excited I show it.

This especially transcends in watching sports. Specifically, football.

For whatever reason, I’ve never noticed how intense I can be when I’m watching the game.

Until recently.

I’m guessing it was the years of watching my dad sitting on the edge of his recliner, clapping, then jumping up when a good play was succeeded. You could always hear him on the opposite side of the house hollering.

Now, I find myself doing the same thing.

This past weekend I went to my first college football game in Gainesville (Go Gators!). Naturally, my daddy came with me.

That was seriously something I’ve never experienced and absolutely can’t wait to experience again. Every time I saw a receiver running the ball down the field it was just a natural reaction to jump up and pump my fist. I’m also a “woo” girl. Not an obnoxious one (at least I hope not), but I love to make noise and join in on the chants.

Now, I don’t know all the rules and specifics or names of most technical terms in sports. I know the vocabulary but have no idea what all of them mean.

To be quite honest when I listen to the analysts on ESPN, I feel like I’m listening to Chinese. I’m clueless.

BUT, I love the game. Just the excitement and the atmosphere of the sport is electric.

Another debacle I normally have is what to wear to sporting events.

Do I want to wear a team shirt, or the colors? Do I want to wear a cute dress, or shorts and a tank top?

Will I look like a weirdo in wedges?

How should I do my hair?

It’s always a battle between being the tomboy inside, while still being feminine and “lady-like” on the outside. I feel comfy in ball caps, sneakers & tank tops, but then the girl in me loves dresses, pearls & heels and wants a guy to actually notice me.

Who am I?!

I suppose having different sides is better than being boring. But still, #thestruggleisreal.

Am I the only one out there who feels this way during the season? Let me know your struggles in the comments below!
