MAKE ME A GANDALF BEFORE YOU GET SHUT DOWN. A popular pub that has been around for 20+ years in Southhampton (UK ) has just been notified they are being sued by Saul Zaentz Company, a California based team that represents the intellectual worldwide property owners  of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings brands.

Hit the jump to continue reading and see the LOTR inspired drinks….

The pub, which caters to the younger college crowd stated they were “completely shocked” at the lawsuit and “never intended to infringe on any copyrights” but also admits that they though they have seeked their own legal representation, they “can’t fight Hollywood”.

From looking at the pictures from The Hobbit pub’s website, it looks like a pretty badass place to have a drink. Pictures of the characters cover the bar, including the welcoming sign at the entry doorway. Drink specials and even character faces cover marketing material created. While it’s awesome, it should have been clear to the owners that this eventually wouldn’t fly with high powered Hollywood Execs.

But even if the bar is forced to change the name and remove the character images, I don’t see why they still couldn’t make the character themed drinks. If they can’t, I know a place in my kitchen that can serve these drinks up just fine!
