Anyway, it was a surprisingly big week in the gaming world. The big news this week is the arrival of two much-anticipated games: Diablo III and Max Payne 3. Beyond that, Modern Warfare 3 has ton of new multiplayer content in the pipeline this month, a hugely popular franchise appears to be getting the LEGO treatment, the first gameplay trailer for Assassin’s Creed III was released, and the Xbox received a huge price cut and will also be receiving Internet Explorer.
On the other hand, Sony received mixed news regarding its current financial woes, Battlefield fans are in an uproar about the lack of dedicated servers, and the controversial SOPA/PIPA legislation refuses to go away and die.
General Gaming News
The big news this week is the release of Diablo III and Max Payne 3.
The NPD Group released its figures for the month of April, and the numbers are concerning. Both software and hardware sales are down significantly from this time last year.
The Lord of the Rings is reportedly the latest franchise to get the LEGO treatment.
Modern Warfare 3 has some new content on the way. Face Off mode, designed for small 1v1 or 2v2 matches, will arrive on Wednesday, and the Content Collection 2 pack will arrive next week. The DLC contains three new maps, two new Spec Ops missions, and two more Face Off maps. Note: these dates are for Xbox users only; no date has been announced for when PS3 and PC gamers can get their hands on the new content.

Microsoft — Xbox 360
There’s a new 360 bundle on the market now, and its price is surprisingly low. The caveat, though, is that it comes with a 2-year Xbox Live contract.
Internet Explorer is coming to the Xboxand will have Kinect functionality.
The good news keeps on coming: the popular game Minecraft is now available on the Xbox, and while it’s not as robust as the PC version, it’s still fantastic.
Sources claim that an exercise tracker called Kinect Play Fit is in the works.
According to a study by Freewheel, an online-video ad agency, the Xbox 360 is the most popular non-PC device for viewing online video.
Sony — PS3 & Vita
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception will be receiving a huge multiplayer update later this month. There are a host of new features in the update, but perhaps the biggest news is the return of The Lab.
LittleBigPlanet is getting a beta for the Vita.
