Could this be the greatest sports mash-up ever? Me thinks, YES!
DJ Steve Porter made his second trip to Sportsnation debuting a video mash-up of the top celebu-athletes and the crazy stuff they say. Athletes such as Tiger, Favre, Randy Moss, Chad Ocho Cinco and yes, Lebron make an appearance along with numerous others.
There is no need for anymore text...just watch the video already and be amazed.
"Now THAT'S a Guys Girl" is a series based on women who passionately bring sports and gaming into our world"
Michelle Beadle is the host of a popular afternoon sports show by the name of Sportsnation. It's also the first place where most of us saw Michelle in action.
Colin Cowherd is the other host of the show that originally drew me into watching Sportsnation but its Michelle's quit wit, humor and overall sports knowledge that keeps me continually interested in what's going on with the show on a daily basis.

Well...except for the whole "not drafting Tebow" part
In the NFL playoffs of 2007, I experienced one of the best highs as a sports fan when I witnessed my Jaguars beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in the playoffs. After a tough game with the Steelers, the Jags ultimately got sent home by the Patriots who would go on to lose to the Giants in the Superbowl. But little did I know, that would be one of the last Jaguar highs I would feel for quite a while.
Though its always tough to lose in the playoffs, Jag fans were pretty excited for what the following 2008 season would hold. Even Peter King picked the Jaguars to win the Superbowl the following year. But since 2007, the Jags haven't seen the playoffs or double digit wins. Thanks SI Curse (for my own satisfaction SI is the sole cause for everything bad that has happened to the Jags since).
After the debacle on the field of the next two seasons with a combined record of 12-20 it was off the field news that the franchise lost 17,000 season ticket holders, strapping the organization for cash that has worried many fans. Going 7-9 sure didn't boast well to any potential new ticket buyers for the 2009 season either.
The fickle fan base took another hit in the 2010 draft for not taking hometown hero Tim Tebow in the first round. But this time we didn't just hear it from whiny Gator fans, we heard it from local and national media as well.
It was after the draft, that the Jag fans stood up like the little brother who is tired of being picked on.

Concussions have become a focal point of of discussion among athletes of all sports whether young or old.
For years concussions were written off as insignificant mostly due to the fact that you cannot physically see a concussion as you would with a broken bone or laceration. But concussions are much more deadlier than a simple broken bone. They are the silent killer that causes slow and deepening brain damage over a period of time that more and more athletes need to be made aware of.
A new infographic was recently released on the topic of Concussions and the role they play in sports. The infographic detailed the startling statistics that should alarm any coach, spouse, trainer or parent.
During a concussion, neural tissue is violently jolted within the skull, which can directly damage brain cells and blood vessels that directly feed the neural tissue. A common misconception about concussions is the fact that you have to be hit in the head in order to suffer a concussion, when in reality, any blow to the body that causes a quick movement of the head can cause a concussion.

Jordan's competitiveness is taken too far with comments on new Miami trio
It started ten days ago, when Dwayne Wade proclaimed teaming up with Chris Bosh & LeBron James “possibly the greatest trio ever to play the game. . ."
Immediately, the airwaves and internet exploded with derision: "Magic, Kareem & Worthy," "Bird, Parish & McHale," "Doc, Moses & Cheeks," "Jordan, Rodman & Pippen," "Wilt, Jerry West & Elgin Baylor!"
OK, OK, we get it. Even Garnett, Pierce & Allen got a mention. And that's just basketball. If you comb message boards and forums you'll find lists of greatest hockey trios, greatest football trios, etc. etc. etc. So Wade, Bosh & LeBron is not necessarily one for the ages. Forgive Dwayne Wade for being a little overexcited I guess.
Fast forward to yesterday, and Michael Jordan claimed that anything LeBron wins now will be somehow "tainted" because he teamed up with Bosh & Wade. "There’s no way, with hindsight, I would've ever called up Larry, called up Magic and said, 'Hey, look, let's get together and play on one team.' In all honesty, I was trying to beat those guys.”
OK, Michael, whatever you say. Didn't you already HAVE a super team? Didn't you already have Pippen, one of the 50 greatest NBA players ever on your squad? Didn't Bird have Parish & McHale? Didn't Magic have Kareem & Worthy? More to the point, would your superteam have necessarily beaten a corollary super team of McHale, Kareem & Pippen? Probably, but it would be fun to watch.

During this past off-season, the Padres were thought to be so hopeless that a list of the players who would be available at the mid-season fire sale was already being assembled. Adrian Gonzalez to the Red Sox, Heath Bell to the Phillies, Mike Adams to the Braves? Forget it. The Padres, led by a deep and talented pitching staff and just enough hitting, have the best road record in the National League and lead the NL West. They may not be able to sustain it, but for this year at least, the Padres are a factor for what they are doing on the field instead of at the trade table.
Biggest Disappointment Team: Seattle Mariners
With an aggressive offseason under their belts, a lot of people thought Seattle would make a run at the AL West (although I wasn’t one of them, remember)? In any case, the Mariners have become what the Padres were going to be - the team that’s out of it in July and looking to trade talent for prospects. It’s not just that the Mariners aren’t contending, it’s how dreadfully they’re not contending. As of this writing, they have the second worst record in the American League and are 6.5 games behind third place Oakland in the West. Yuck!

Should the rest of the NBA bother showing up next season? No one in the NBA, hell, no one in professional sports had ever seen anything like it. Probably because nothing like it in professional sports had ever happened before. Dwayne Wade and LeBron James were both free agents. We’re talking here, no exaggeration at all, two of the four best players in the game. Only Kobe & Dwight Howard are also at that level. Add in the fact that Amare Stoudemire and Chris Bosh were also free agents and we’re talking four of the best 10 or 12 players in the game. Add Joe Johnson and it’s five of the best 25. Naturally, speculation and drama ran rampant about what would happen next. Where would these guys play? And, as whispers from the corner grew louder as the July 1 free agency period approached, would a bunch of them all play together?
In the event you spent the last 48 hours on the planet Neptune, it shook out like this. Johnson would stay in Atlanta. Stoudemire would go to the Knicks, where he claimed Carmelo Anthony and Tony Parker would join him next year. Bosh and Wade both went to Miami (well, Wade stayed in Miami and Bosh joined him). That left the biggest prize of all, LeBron James. After the Wade/Bosh announcement, James, who certainly already knew what he was going to do at that point, announced that he would make his announcement at a televised event on ESPN (dubbed “The Announcement”) the next night. That was tonight. And James will join Bosh and Wade in Miami.
Forget the bizarre spectacle leading up to tonight’s announce-a-thon and think, for a minute, about Dwayne Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh all playing for the same team next year. Everyone knows you need two stars to win in the NBA. The Heat have three. They have two hands down superstars in Wade and James, guys who can carry a so-so roster all by themselves. Bosh joins them as the second most athletic big man in the NBA to only Dwight Howard. Is this team going to be as good as, on the surface, it appears they will be?

You may not realize that Major League Baseball players get an added perk besides all the money and adoration - they get to pick what music plays as they come up to the plate. Known as “walk up music” the choices are limitless and varied; and there is seriously no accounting for taste.
Slugger Adam Dunn hopes to induce nausea and vomiting in the opposing pitcher by playing Sister Christian by Night Ranger. Lyle Overbay plays Jeremy by Pearl Jam. Great song, but what it has to do with hitting a baseball?
Sometimes, of course, a player picks a song that somewhat correlates to his situation. Mariano Rivera, ace closer of the Yankees, has Enter Sandman by Metallica play as he enters the game. He’s baseball’s premier shutdown closer: Enter Sandman indeed.
But what if athletes in every sport could had walk up music? And what if, as often occurs in my imagination, I were elected Supreme Ruler of All Sports and got to pick what music played. Hmmmmmmm. It might go something like this:

Worse News: We have to look at them the entire All Star Game festivities
For the past few years, the MLB has worked to develop more patriotic themes to their hats to celebrate "yay America" days. Great cause, but do the hats have to be so ugly?
Looking at the hat by itself, it doesn't seem to bad, not a hat I would buy, but not something that makes me so distracted watching a game that I cannot focus on anything else.
From New Era:
"This year’s cap features a white base color with either a red or navy blue bill, depending on which team you choose. Inside of the team logo, as well as the MLB logo on the back of the cap, resides the stars and stripes of the US Flag. "
But this isn't the first time we have seen this hat this season. Earlier this year on Memorial Day was when the hats were introduced. Future dates for the hat's use is on Independence Day (weekend of), All Star Game and September 11th.
Last year, the MLB had similar hats that looked much better in that the cap portion and bill were both either all red or navy blue with the same stars and striped logo.
